You do just enough to get the permit (variants of which are, among others: I don't need elevations; another variant of which is - I need something to market the house, impress buyers, but not enough to even get a permit; I need a house that'll blow down better, faster the next time so I don't have to hassle with government toadies and insurance suits over what's left: How about greater than 24 linear inches on center, huh?).  #7 of The 19 Deadly Sins.

CABINETS LAYOUT

Detail of Wet Bar, Elevation

Key: BSP=BACKSPLASH; CAB=CABINET; D=DEPTH; DR=DOOR; LH=LEFT HAND; RH=RIGHT HAND; SSP=SIDESPLASH; W.=WEST; WL=WALL

1)      More commonly, home interior design elevations are detailed at least in bath, kitchen planning, wet bars, bathroom idea, etc.

a)     This little Detail drawing is of a wet bar set between Kitchen and gathering hall central to traffic flow throughout L1

b)     Note the large amount of information in what appears at first as little to look at and learn

c)      The purposes of such elevations are

i)      To confront and clear up as many cabinetry points as need be with clients

ii)    To avoid engaging cabinetry professionals unprepared and only to then confront and clear up a long, expensive list of uncertainties and ignorances

Comment:  In preparing a custom home design, owners can save big bucks by first choosing their choice(s) of cabinetry makers and models and then insisting the home designer incorporate those cabinets within the house plan set.  Except in the most egregiously limited of circumstances, otherwise custom builds can be changed-out for usually much less pricey standard sizes for almost always truly modest changes in placement of doors, windows, countertops, appliances, etc.  This home design work can be time-consuming, even tedious; however, the cost savings can be multiples and multiples.
